Business Principal and funeral director Anthony O’Hara swapped his smart conducting shoes for trainers in April to run the London Marathon as part of Team HeyJude raising funds for Young Epilepsy.
Anthony has always enjoyed running and was asked by the parents of Jude Cunnane, whose funeral he had the privilege to conduct, to join their team of runners for the 2024 event. After 6 months of training, he took to the start point alongside Jude’s dad Andy and the thousands of other runners, many of whom also were running for charities. Even though Anthony picked up an injury just five weeks before the event and was told not to run, he was determined to complete the race and did so in 4 hours 20 minutes, even after gaining another injury 15 miles in!
The team all finished the race and most importantly combined they raised over £25,000 for the charity all so close to their hearts after the loss of Jude. Anthony was so honoured to be part of the team and would like to thank all who sponsored and supported him. He says though, one marathon is enough in a lifetime!
