The National Funeral Exhibition (NFE) in June held at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire had the latest vehicle in the O’Hara fleet which stood pride of place on the stand of Superior UK, the agents for Pilato of Italy’s funeral vehicle range.
Known as the Queen II, the new Jaguar Hearse made from a XJ vehicle was commissioned by the company to be made and work alongside its existing hearse Queen I. The new hearse is a very modern design and the company fleet this best reflected their image and the changing face of funerals in this country. Options such as an Italian deck were fitted to show off the coffin whilst travelling, the rear door is fully glass to allow more visibility and light and the inner deck area is padded to give the effect of a bed which we felt much softer than the traditional wood veneer effects. Pilato also had to design the deck to accommodate an under deck draw to house the many items that a hearse carries that are needed on funerals.
The vehicle was handed to the company by Kevin Smith of Superior UK as well as Barbara, CEO of Pilato, Italy
The whole team at O’Hara’s are all eager to be the first to take it on its maiden voyage and the new vehicle will be starting its work in Dorset later this week and once DVLA paperwork complete will be running on a new number plate A1NOH.
